Placing a member under monitoring

Copy a member's messages to brokers for a set time, and turn off their messaging if needed.

Monitoring copies every message a member sends or receives to brokers for review. Use it when you have a concern about a member.

Adding a member

  1. Open User Monitoring.
  2. Press Add User.
  3. In Search User, type a name or email and choose the member.
  4. In Reason, explain why. This is required. Future brokers will read it.
  5. Choose a Duration: 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days. Monitoring then ends by itself: copying stops, messaging is switched back on if you turned it off, and the member is told their restrictions have been lifted.
  6. If the member should not send messages at all for now, turn on Disable messaging while monitored.
  7. Press Add User.

What happens

  • The member gets a notification that their account is under review. If you turned off messaging, it says their messaging is restricted.
  • Copies of their messages arrive in Messages with the reason Flagged User. Brokers and admins get a notification for each copy.
  • With messaging turned off, the member cannot send messages. They can still receive them.

Changing or ending monitoring

  • Press the edit button on the row to change the reason, duration or messaging setting, then press Save Changes.
  • Press the remove button and confirm with Remove to end monitoring. The member is told their restrictions have been lifted.

The counter Expiring within 7 days shows who will come off monitoring soon.

Monitoring is a serious step that affects a member's privacy. Keep it as short as possible, record why, and review it before it ends.
This is done on the main website. The accessible site does not have this page.
