Changing the safeguarding options members can choose
Add, edit or switch off the safeguarding options members see when they join.
Safeguarding Options is the list of choices members see when they join. Brokers and admins can change it.
The page shows Active Options that members can choose, and Inactive Options that have been switched off.
Adding an option
- Press Add Option.
- Fill in Option Key. This is a short internal name with no spaces, such as needs_coordinator. Members do not see it.
- Fill in Display Label. This is the sentence members tick, for example "I would like a coordinator to help arrange my exchanges".
- Add Description Help to explain the option in plain words. Add a Help URL if your community has a page about it.
- Choose the Option Type: Checkbox for a simple tick box, Select for a list of answers, or Info for text only.
- Turn on Required only if every member must answer it.
- Under Behavioral Triggers, turn on the protections this option should switch on.
- Press Create Option.
To turn on Vetted members only, you also choose a Required Vetting Type. It must match the jurisdiction your admin chose. If no jurisdiction is chosen yet, the site will not save it.
Offering an option to new members
Each option shows how many members chose it. Switch off Offer to new members to stop new members seeing it. Members who already chose it keep it, and its protections stay in place.
Editing or switching off an option
- Press the edit button on an option, make your changes and press Save Changes.
- Press the switch-off button and confirm with Deactivate. Members can no longer choose it.
Changes that are blocked
If members have chosen an option that protects them, you cannot:
- switch the option off
- turn off one of its protections
- change its Required Vetting Type
You will see an error instead. This keeps members' protections in place. You can still change the wording.
