Setting up your community
Choosing how new people can join
Decide whether anyone can join, whether you approve people first, or whether they need an invite code.
You decide how new people join your community on the Registration & Identity Verification page.
- Open Platform Operations in the admin menu and press Settings.
- In the Registration & Access card, press Advanced policy.
- Under Registration Method, choose how people join.
- Press Save Registration Policy.
The change applies straight away to anyone who signs up after it.
The choices
- Mode Open: anyone can join without approval.
- Open with Admin Approval: anyone can sign up, but an admin or broker must approve them before they can use the site.
- Mode Invite: people need an invite code. See "Inviting people with invite codes".
- Mode Waitlist: people join a waiting list. They wait as pending members until you approve them.
- Mode Verified: people must pass an identity check when they sign up. This needs an identity verification service to be set up first, under Verification Settings.
Settings only the platform team can change
You can switch approval on, but only the platform team can switch it off again. Turning off email checks is also theirs to change. On the Admin Settings page, these switches show Super admin only.
The Open Registration switch on the Admin Settings page is a quick way to allow or stop new sign-ups.
This is done on the main website. The accessible site does not have this page.
