Can a coordinator read my messages?
Some conversations may be reviewed by a coordinator for safeguarding. You see a notice when this can happen.
Your messages are private between you and the other member. In some situations, a coordinator may review a conversation to keep people safe.
When this can happen, you see a notice in the conversation. It says that messages may be reviewed by a coordinator for safeguarding, or seen by someone a member trusts to support them.
Choosing your own safeguarding preferences does not, on its own, let coordinators read your messages.
When you cannot message someone directly
Sometimes you see a notice instead of the message box. This is usually because of the other member's safeguarding preferences.
- Coordinator arrangement needed: the member needs a coordinator to arrange contact. Press Request coordinator help, and a coordinator will be in touch.
- Community confirmation needed: the member only accepts contact from members your community has confirmed. Press Request review of my vetting to ask your community to review this. You can also do this in Settings, on the Safeguarding & support tab, with Request broker review.
- Safeguarding check temporarily unavailable: press Check again. If it keeps happening, ask a coordinator for help.
