Safeguarding

Choosing the safeguarding questions members see

Create and change the safeguarding options members can choose, and decide what each one does.

Safeguarding options are the choices members can make about their own safety, for example "I would like a coordinator to help with my exchanges".

Open the Broker Panel and press Safeguarding Options. You can also press Manage Options on the Onboarding Settings page.

Adding an option

  1. Press Add Option.
  2. Enter an Option Key, a short unique name for your team.
  3. Write the Display Label members will read.
  4. Choose the Option Type: Checkbox, Select or Info.
  5. Add Description Help to explain it, and a Help URL if you have one.
  6. Switch on Required only if every member must answer it.
  7. Under Behavioral Triggers, choose what happens when a member picks it.
  8. Press Create Option.

What the triggers do

  • Notify safeguarding staff: your team is told when the option is chosen.
  • Require coordinator approval: matches and exchanges involving the member wait for a coordinator to sign them off. Their messages are not copied.
  • Vetted members only: only coordinators and members whose vetting your community has recorded can contact the member, and the member can contact only them. Groups the member belongs to work as normal.
  • Restrict matching: matches involving the member are held on the Match Approvals page until a coordinator approves them. Neither member is told about a match before that.
  • Contact through a coordinator: only coordinators can contact the member directly, and the member can contact only coordinators. Other members are offered a way to ask a coordinator instead. Messages are not copied. To copy a member's messages, a broker or admin must place them under monitoring in the Broker Panel.

For Vetted members only, you must also choose a Required Vetting Type. It must match your jurisdiction, or the option cannot be saved.

Offering an option to new members

Each option shows how many members chose it. Switch off Offer to new members to stop new members seeing it. Members who already chose it keep it, and its protections stay in place.

Removing an option

Press Deactivate and confirm. The option is no longer offered to members.

This is done on the main website. The accessible site does not have this page.
