Getting started
How do time credits work?
You earn time credits by giving help and spend them on getting help. Your balance is kept in your wallet.
Time credits move from one member to another when help is given.
- You and another member agree what help is needed, and when.
- The help takes place.
- The member who received the help pays the member who gave it, in time credits. One hour of help is one time credit.
Depending on how your community works, the credits are sent from the wallet, or they move when both members confirm the exchange is complete.
Your balance
Your balance shows how many credits you have. You can see it in your Wallet. It also appears in hours next to Wallet in the menu under your name.
Things to know
- Time credits are a record of time. They are not money.
- Some communities give new members a few credits to start with. Others start everyone at zero.
- You do not need any credits to offer help. Helping others is how most members earn them.
For step-by-step help with sending credits and reading your history, see the Wallet section of this Help Centre.
