Community feed
How do I post an update?
Write a post for your community feed or for one of your groups.
You post updates from the community feed.
- Open the feed.
- Press the box that says What's on your mind?. A window opens.
- If the window shows a different form, such as Listing, press the Post tab at the top.
- Write your message. You can use up to 5,000 characters. The buttons above the text let you add bold, italics, lists and links.
- Use the buttons under the text to add an emoji or a GIF. Some browsers also let you speak your post with voice input.
- If your community uses groups, you see Post to. Leave Public Feed to share with the whole community, or choose one of your groups.
- Press Post.
A quicker way to reach the Post form is the + button at the top of the page. Choose New Post.
Other things you can create here
The same window has tabs along the top. Depending on what your community uses, you may see Listing, Event, Goal and Poll as well as Post. Each tab opens a short form for that kind of item.
If you close the window part-way through, your browser keeps a draft on this device. It comes back the next time you open the post box.
Who sees your post
A post to the Public Feed is seen by members of your community. A post to a group appears inside that group, for its members.
If you type @ followed by someone's username, they are told you mentioned them.
